Order Partner

Identify where orders originate from.

Order Partner is one of the two main categorization mechanisms for orders. The other is Order Type, which you can read more about in Order Types.

Order partners are used to represent where orders originate from.

If all orders come from a single source, such as your own website, order partners may be less important and you might simply use your company name as the partner.

If orders come from multiple sources or channels, each channel should typically have its own order partner. Examples include:

  • Website leads
  • External sales partners
  • Marketplaces
  • Resellers

Admins can create and manage order partners under Admin → Order → Partners.

Partner Access and Permissions

When creating or managing an order partner, you also define the permissions that apply to that partner inside the Partner View.

If a user has the role PARTNER and is assigned to a specific order partner, the permissions configured on that order partner decide:

  • What information the partner can see on orders
  • What actions they are allowed to perform

Permissions can range from:

  • Viewing orders only
  • Sending SMS or emails
  • All the way to editing customer and order information

This allows you to precisely control how much access each partner has, even if multiple partners exist in the system.

You can read more about the Partner View in Partner View and about user roles and management in Users.
